A citizens' organization, born in Paillant, committed to Paillant
Since July 2009, RECIDEP has brought together the members of the Paillant community around a common goal: lasting improvement in the quality of life in the commune.
RECIDEP, the Citizens’ Network for the Development of Paillant (in French: Réseau Citoyen pour le Développement de Paillant; in Haitian Creole: Rezo Sitwayen pou Devlopman Paillant), is a non-profit association founded in July 2009. It brings together citizens of the Paillant community, in the Nippes department, determined to take an active part in the development of their commune.
The organization was born around a vital issue: the distribution of water to the population, particularly in the town center. This first commitment laid the foundations of what RECIDEP has become: a citizens’ network capable of mobilizing local energies and outside support in the service of concrete projects.
Over the years, RECIDEP’s activities have gradually expanded. The organization became involved in education, organizing spelling, mathematics, and Creole competitions for the commune’s students. It supported local sports through the organization of football championships. In December 2009, it took part, together with EDH, in a project to improve Paillant’s electrical grid.
RECIDEP has also worked in construction, building a community market shelter in Mussotte, financed by MINUSTAH, a space that allows residents and traders to buy and sell in better conditions.
In February 2018, after several years of preparation, RECIDEP opened the Paillant library, a place dedicated to reading, study, and access to knowledge for the commune’s youth.

To contribute to the lasting improvement of the quality of life of the people of Paillant, by mobilizing local citizen resources and external donors around concrete projects in the fields of water, education, health, culture, and community development.

A commune of Paillant that is united, educated, and healthy, where every citizen, from the youngest to the eldest, finds their place and takes part in the development of their community.

How we operate
RECIDEP is funded by the support of friends and relatives of the community, in Haiti and abroad, as well as by a minimal contribution requested from families who receive water directly at home. This simple model guarantees the organization’s independence and its roots in the community.
The organization remains open to in-kind donations, technical support, and institutional partnerships that strengthen its capacity for action.
